St John’s Church, Belmont

A Church of England & Methodist Church

We currently have 122 girls and young women guiding in Belmont, of which 11 of those young women (aged 14 – 25 years) act as leaders or young leaders for us.  All groups enjoy various activities, crafts and themed evenings, as well as working towards their badges.

The Rainbows (aged 5 – 7) have recently enjoyed potting up flowering spring bulbs, working towards their Adventure 100 Badge, taking part in the Cheeky Monkey Challenge to raise money for Children with Leukaemia and making poppies for Remembrance Day.  They also went to a special “Rainbows go Wild” event at London Zoo.

The Brownies (aged 7 – 10) have great fun working on Home Skills, Number Fun, Agility, Artist, Entertainers, Cooks and Pack Holiday badges.  1st Belmont held a Scottish evening, held a water power evening where they designed their own waterwheel, and held a mini Olympics.  The unit continues to be full with a waiting list, and would be delighted to have more adult help, as currently it is only able to continue with regular help from a parent rota.

The Guides (aged 10 – 14) have also been working on their World Guiding, Communications, and Right to be Heard badges.  There have been many themed evenings such as fundraising for God’s Golden Acres, craft for Mother’s day, camp blanket and camp preparation evenings, Diwali evening, jewellery making, and also activities away from the meeting place.

The Rangers (aged 14 – 25) have  have had craft evenings, food evenings, a European night, and a camp fire evening.
