St John’s Church, Belmont
A Church of England & Methodist Church
St John’s Sunday Club is open to all children who attend the 9.30 am service - both regulars and visitors - aged from about 3 onwards. Numbers do vary according to the time of the year, family arrangements, amount of homework sporting activities etc., but there is a core of around 12.
Sessions are led by a small team of dedicated leaders, with adult helpers, occasionally supplemented by older teenagers.
Regular sessions involve a short act of worship, a story or other passage from the bible, and a creative activity which is later presented to the whole church in the notice time. Sunday Club Leaders derive their inspiration from a variety of sources these days, but the main source is the Internet site called SERMONS4KIDZ, which is easily accessible and usually has some good ideas which can be adapted for our use.
In addition the children take part in occasional trips, and also participate in some of the Family Services.
The annual Crib Service on Christmas Eve is a highlight that is very much appreciated by the church and the local community.
Some of the children have undergone preparation to receive communion with their parents, and this is an option that remains open to all regular attendees.
Please note that on the 1st Sunday each month there is no Sunday Club, as the children remain in church for the Family Service.
